Opening: Butcher / Artisan Style Sausage Maker
Position Summary:
This job entails producing artisan style meat and food products including cutting, trimming and preparing meats, along with flavouring and producing special sausages. This is a full-time position in a growing industry and will commence immediately.

Job Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing various meat products and processed meats
- Preparing food products and specialty items for the retail counter
- Taking and the fulfillment of customer orders
- Preparation and packaging in the processing areas
- Inventory and turnover control and product movement
- Sanitation and food safety practises
- Adjust and fine-tune equipment
- Follow all quality and food safety standards and procedures
- Assisting with inventory management
- Keep work area tidy and clean

Opening: Food Safety Technician
Position Summary:
Metzger Meats is looking for an energetic and organized Food Processing Technician to join our team. You will be reporting and collaborating with us to drive and enhance our food safety program and procedures. If you are results-oriented and passionate about food safety, we encourage you to apply for this role! This is a full-time position and will commence immediately.

A glimpse at some of the exciting tasks you will lead and do:
- Food Safety Culture team member – promoting and driving our food safety culture
- Continuously enhance, develop and maintain our HACCP plan and drive the development and implementation of our food safety procedures.
- Participate in food safety initiatives and support the development and execution of our food processing safety program.
- Develop and maintain Food Safety program verification records for daily, weekly and annual verifications and technical documentation as needed.
- Complete monitoring activities and maintain accurate reports and records (ex. GMP records, temp logs, CCPs, Allergen Matrix, SOPs, labeling etc.).
- Be involved in quality control activities, such as intake, WIP and finished production inspections and equipment calibrations.
- Participate and lead Management Review Meetings, drive actions and ensure closure of open action items.
- Advocate and train on food safety program and procedures.
- Under supervision, quickly learn to operate automated food processing equipment according to industry standard principles and practices
- An immediate support function for all operations issues found. Ensures a high sense of urgency is placed on keeping production running uninterrupted in a safe manner.
- Ingredient inventory control and support inventory discrepancy investigations.
- Uphold our protocols for achieving the highest level of food safety and quality assurance.
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have the following skills:
- College diploma or university degree in Food Processing / Food Safety or equivalent in education and experience.
- Understanding of HACCP principles, the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations and GFSI schemes.
- Familiar with MS Office and comfortable learning and using new technology.
- Team player who is comfortable collaborating with other departments but also working independently.
- Comfortable working in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment which requires strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible with working hours for business requirements, including early morning, evening and weekend shifts.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing business priorities.
- A thirst for learning and growing in the food industry.
- Comfortable working in a cold environment, standing and walking for duration of shift and able to lift up to 44 pounds.
